Quick And Stress-Free Doctor Visits For Babies
Having a baby is a gift. As the child grows, however, he’ll encounter changes in his body that affect his overall health. During his first few years of life, he needs to undergo certain activities, like immunization. He’ll also encounter unwanted illnesses that require him to see a pediatrician. Unfortunately, babies don’t see a doctor as a friend. For them, they’re associated with pain, giving parents a difficult time to go to the clinic with their babies.
Fortunately, there are things you can do to have stress-free visits to your baby’s doctor.
1. Choose the Right Doctor
The first step to having a stress-free doctor visit for your child is to choose the right pediatrician. When choosing the right doctor, factor in distance and parking.
2. Schedule It at the Best Time Possible
That is, it should be the time when he’s well-rested. If possible, choose a morning schedule. Bring his favorite blanket. Don’t bring his siblings as they can be a distraction. Then, go to the clinic earlier than his scheduled time to factor in heavy traffic and bad weather. When you arrive minutes in advance, it gives you and your baby a time to settle in and fill out the forms thoroughly.
3. Write Down all Questions You May Have
During your baby’s first doctor appointment, several things will be covered. Thus, it’s ideal to bring a notebook so you can take note. You must also consider writing down, ahead of time, all questions you may wish to ask the doctor. Bring the notes with you during the visit. Doing so will let you ask more questions and get more answers from his doctor.
Upon leaving, make sure that you schedule his next appointment. Keep his doctor’s phone number handy. You must also know how to contact him in the case of an emergency or if you wish to ask him questions. It’s also important to let his doctor know about your philosophy on medical issues, so the two of you will be on the same page.
4. Prepare Your Baby
Your baby’s doctor will examine his entire body. Thus, it’s ideal to dress him in simple clothing so that it won’t be difficult to undress him later. Bring clothes, diapers and other things needed during his feeding time. To make sure that he’s at ease while his doctor examines him, don’t forget his baltic wonder amber necklace. Let him wear it while seeing his doctor, so he’ll behave well.
