Places to Visit & Things to do in Phuket for Honeymoon Couples
Topping every list of romantic honeymoon destinations in Asia, it is no mystery that Phuket oozes romance and love from every nook. A trip to Thailand, and especially one to Phuket, is filled to the brim with all the attractions and experiences that go in the line with kickstarting the married life for many couples.
Be it strolling around the enticing beaches, pampering oneself in the noted Thai spas, or relaxing in some of the world-class resorts, Phuket leaves no stone unturned to make the honeymoon for couples extra special.
There is ample to do and plenty to see here on this island nation. Hence, we have done your homework and compiled a list of everything that one should not miss out on!
- Ko Racha Yai
The Racha Islands or Raya Islands or Koh Racha Yai are superb diving and snorkelling destinations of Thailand with splendid clear waters. These islands are located around 12 kilometres south of Phuket and are uninhabited. Most arrivals at Racha Yai happens at the strip of fine white sand tucked deep into the long, U-shaped main bay, Ao Tawan Tok or Ao Bungalow.
Distance from Patong Beach
The Racha Islands are located at a distance of approximately 33 kilometres from Patong Beach. It takes around 1.5 hours to reach Rawai or Chalong Pier from the Patong Beach. And from Rawai, it takes another hour approximately to reach the islands by boat. Distance of the Racha Islands from Phuket main island is about 10 – 12 kilometres.
How to Reach
You can reach Rawai or Chalong Pier from Patong Beach by bus by spending 90 to 170 baht via Route 4028, 4030 or 4024. There are direct buses departing from Patong and arriving at Rawai running on an hourly basis, and operating every day. The journey takes approximately 1 hour to 1.5 hours. The fastest way to get to Rawai or Chalong Pier from Patong is to take a taxi that will cost 490 – 600 baht and takes around half an hour. Then the rest of the journey will be via waterway. Long-tail and speedboat transfers are arranged from Chalong Pier or Rawai. Depending on the speed and type of boat, a one-way trip duration varies from around 45 minutes to over 1 hour. All-inclusive day tours can be easily availed for snorkelling and diving. A day trip can also be planned with a full itinerary that includes island hopping. This trip will include round trip transfer, activities and facilities such as lunch, life insurance, mask and snorkelling gear, life jacket, beach chair along with English Speaking Guide. The day trip costs 1280 to 1700 baht, approximately.
- Malin Plaza, Phuket
Malin Plaza, Phuket, displays an impressive range of souvenirs at fair prices. This plaza is busy and bustling. The environment is cool and food is cheap. The main part of Malin Plaza Patong has a high metal roof and offers an array of food stands selling Thai street food, fried chicken, chips, crepes, ice-cream, sushi, cocktails and fresh fruit.
Distance from Patong Beach
The Malin Plaza, Phuket, is located at a distance of around 2.2 kilometres from Patong Beach. It takes approximately 6 minutes to reach Malin Plaza, Phuket holiday, from the Patong Beach via Route 4055.
How to reach
Since the distance is very short, Malin Plaza, Phuket can be reached by a short walk from Patong. There are direct buses too from Patong to Malin Plaza and takes about 25 minutes to reach. Alternative option is to take a tuk tuk or if you have a rented vehicle at your disposal, you can just drive down.
- Aphrodite Cabaret Show
Aphrodite Cabaret Show is a glamorous cabaret show and is much similar to Simon Cabaret of Patong. The stage is filled with hundreds of performers and puts up a highly impressive show to watch and makes for an entertaining night out. The show is housed in a 900-seat theatre shaped like a large ship just outside Phuket Town. It has a suki shop and a Chinese restaurant.
Distance from Patong Beach
Aphrodite Cabaret Show is located at a distance of around 11 kilometres from Patong Beach. It takes approximately 21 minutes to reach Aphrodite Cabaret Show, Phuket, from the Patong Beach via Routes 4020, 4029 or 4024.
How to reach
The Aphrodite Cabaret Show tickets can be booked previously that comes with pick and drop facility. You can take a taxi to reach the Aphrodite Cabaret Show from Patong in around 20 minutes. Alternatively, you can take a tuk tuk or drive down in your own vehicle if you have one at your disposal. There are no direct buses. You can change buses and walk partially to reach Aphrodite Cabaret Show from Patong but that will take about 3 hours to complete the journey between the two places and hence is not a good option.
- Nui Beach Club
Nui Beach is an exotic and alluring beautiful ‘secret beach’ in Phuket. The beach extends for 120 metres and is perched at the edge of the Nui Bay Beach Club. The Nui Beach Club is well-maintained and is a coveted tropical dream destination offering bar/restaurant, spa and exciting beach activities such as snorkelling, beach volleyball and kayaking.
Distance from Patong Beach
The Nui Beach Club is located at a distance of around 17 kilometres from Patong Beach. It takes approximately 40 minutes to reach Nui Beach, Phuket, from the Patong Beach via Route 4030. It takes 10 minutes more through Route 4028 which is around 25 kilometres in length.
How to reach
The distance from Patong Beach to Nui Beach Club, Phuket, can be covered by hired taxi that takes 40 minutes to reach. Driving down to the Nui Beach Club by rented two-wheeler or car is another option that can save the hassle of looking for public transport. Rates of rented vehicles depend on the type of bike or car rented and also on the duration for which it is being rented. For reaching Nui Beach, you need to follow the dirt road to the right some 350 metres from Karon Viewpoint. Head southwards for Rawai or Nai Harn. There is a parking area 1 kilometre from the main road. The rest of the way to the Nui Beach has to be covered on foot or by two wheeler. You can also walk down to the beach. A 15-minute walk will take you to the beach front.
- Coral Island
Coral Island, also known as Koh Hae, is an exotic getaway about 3 kilometres southeast of Phuket. The two beaches, Long Beach and Banana Beach are peaceful and quiet with deck chairs and sun loungers that come free for those on day tours. Banana Beach offers thrilling snorkelling experience. The island has restaurants to grab a meal.
Distance from Patong Beach
The Coral Island is located at a distance of around 19 kilometres from Patong Beach. But first, you need to reach Rawai Beach or Chalong Pier from Patong Beach which is 22 kilometres away approximately and takes around 35 minutes to reach by taxi via Route 4030 or Route 4024. It takes a bit more than 1 hour to reach Rawai Beach or Chalong Pier from the Patong Beach by bus. Bus fare would be 110 – 400 baht. Taxi fare is around 470 – 650 baht. From Rawai Beach it is again 15 minutes by boat to the Coral Island which is about 6.5 kilometres away from the main land.
How to Reach
From Patong Beach, you need to reach Rawai Beach or Chalong Pier. This journey can be covered by bus or taxi. From Rawai Beach, catch the longtail boats. And from Rawai Beach, it takes another 15 minutes to reach the island by boat. You can also drive down to Rawai Beach from Patong by rented vehicle which can be rented at various rates depending on the type of vehicle and the days for which it is booked. If you book full-day tour to Coral Island, round trip transfers are included in that along with lunch, beach chairs, life jacket, mask and snorkelling gear and English speaking guide. There is no extra charge for pick-up and drop from designated areas such as Phuket Town, Kalim beach, Tri Trang Beach, Patong beach, Karon beach, Kata beach, Rawai, Naiharn and Ban Krating.
